    Intellectual property rights workshop

    CAA organized two day "Intellectual property Rights" training to CAA General Members, the training supports to protect intellectual property rights among the members. It is a major component of CAA. In order to achieve that objective CAA jointly with Department of Industries (Government body solely responsible for IPR) organized training on intellectual property right from 8th-9th February 2010 in Agriculture Research Center Pakhribash, Dhankuta. This training was demanded by the CAA stakeholders who are involve in small scale processing and seeking for the knowledge about Intellectual property. 22 CAA general members were selected according to demand but only 20 people were able to participate due to the strike in the project area (Panchther and Taplejung) during that period.

    The Objective of the training was as follows:-

    • To sensitize the participants on IPR.
    • To aware the member about the benefits from IPR.
    • To show the present scenario and practice of IPR in case of Nepal and other nation.
    • To informed the participants on the present practice of IPR in Agriculture Sector.

     

    Resource Persons of the training were well known personalities who are involve in Agro enterprise development beside team from Department of Industries. List of resource person were as follows:-

    Observation tour of Tea to CAA Members

    An observation tour was organized by Commercial Agriculture Alliance for the general member of CAA especially tea producer and processor, the tour was coordinated and facilitated by Branch Manager of Ilam Branch. The tour was started from 1st April to 3rd April 2010. 19 CAA general member including Chairperson of CAA Mr. Bhalakaji Rai were the participants of tour. The objective of the observation tour was to visit three pointed area within Darjeeling Districts which are based on Tea. The participants could see the different Tea processing Machineries suitable for especially Tea in small scale processing plant at Rohini Tea Estate and followed by free & frank interactions with Mr. Rajesh Banarjee, Owner of Biodynamic Makaibari Tea Estate, in a friendly atmosphere, remained very impressive. The second day tour of Miniature Research Manufacturing Unit, Metrological Observatory cs well as center at clonal Proving Station, Tea Research Station, at Ging Tea Estate was very effective as well as successful & helpful. All participants were satisfied by capturing remarkable experiences from this tour for promoting entrepreneurship based on their level, what they are doing. Commercial Tea farming plays an important role for the sustainable development contributing the poverty reduction of the country. Tea is labor-intensive industries consequently employment generate take place in large volume in rural area. Participants had been highly motivated by sentence go home and create own Makaibari. The Tea deve remains a miracle of Makaibari from which participants got extra marvel. Participant's got bottomless knowledge that Tea plantation area should not only extend while systematic extension is needed for Nepal Tea industries.

    Observation tour of Potato, chili and Tomato farmers:

    An observation visit for CAA members was organized by Commercial Agriculture Alliance from 4th April 2010 to 7th April 2010. The visit was coordinated by Branch Manager of Sunsari Branch office.  The visit was conducted in Haldiwari and Dhupguri, Khocha Bihar District of West Bangal, India, a famous for patato, Tomato and Chili. The overall objective of the observation tour was to gather information about the cultivation and marketing of Tomato, Chili & Potato. The visit basically focused on vegetable production and marketing with an objective to up-grade knowledge and skills of CAA members and make aware about the new and innovative production and post harvest technologies generated and adopted by the private farm, Government farm, research institution, farmer's group and cooperative. The visit also designed to explore new commodities for processing for value addition and explore market opportunity for commercial promotion through CAA alliance. The participants of visit included 20 CAA general members 1 each from DADO, CAA and CADP.

    Observation Tour of Honey producer CAA Members

    An observation tour for CAA members was organized by Commercial Agriculture Alliance from 2066/12/20 to 2066/12/25.  The Branch Manager of Dhankuta has lead the tour and overall supervision to team by CAA main office Biratnagar. During the visit period team visited in different bee keepers, honey processors and honey traders of Nepal and Akhil Bharatiya Madumakkhi Research Centre, Pusha, Bihar (INDIA).

     

    The main objective of the honey tour is given below.

    1. To give more knowledge about the new technology of bee keeping & processing.
    2. To give more knowledge about the Modern honey processing system.
    3. To give information about existing marketing system. Marketing area and quality product of honey.
    4. To give right answer about their queries in the field of bee   keeping and honey processing              Honey Tour of CAA members

     

    Especially those who are CAA members and involved with bee keeping & honey business were invited to the honey tour programme. There were ten participants in this tour. Among them six members participants from 5 districts, one from DADO office Dhankuta district ,  one from CADP office Biratnagar  and Rest of the two from CAA.

    Observation tour of CAA Members

    An observation visit for CAA members was organized by Commercial Agriculture Alliance Main office Biratnagar from 14th Dec 2009 to 20th Jan 2010. The visit basically focused on vegetable production and marketing with an objective to up-grade knowledge and skills of CAA members and make aware about the new and innovative production and post harvest technologies generated and adopted by the private farm, Government farm, research institution, farmer's group and cooperative. The visit also designed to explore new commodities for processing for value addition and explore market opportunity for commercial promotion through CAA alliance. The visit included 2 members from each project district of CAA, one from farmer's group and another from cooperative mainly involving in vegetable production and marketing
